Why Marriage Sometimes Gets Delayed — An Astrological View
Marriage delayed? Dr. Rahul Singh offers an honest astrological look at common causes, from manglik dosha to Saturn transits, and what genuinely helps.
Almost every family has a story of someone whose marriage took a little longer than expected, and in my consultations, the question of delay comes up with real emotional weight behind it. I always begin these conversations the same way, with honesty rather than alarm, because fear rarely helps anyone make a good decision.
What are common astrological causes of delay?
In Vedic astrology, a delay in marriage is usually traced to a combination of factors rather than one single villain in the chart. An afflicted 7th house or 7th lord, a weak or badly placed Venus or Jupiter, Saturn's transit or Sade Sati passing through the marriage houses, or Rahu-Ketu's influence on the 7th axis can all contribute to a slower timeline. The specific dasha sequence running through a person's life also matters greatly — sometimes the truly supportive period for marriage simply arrives a little later than expected.
Is manglik dosha always to blame?
Manglik dosha, caused by Mars's placement in certain houses including the 7th, is one of the most talked-about, and most misunderstood, factors linked to delay or friction in marriage. But I have to be honest with you: manglik dosha is not automatically a curse, and it is not present in every single delayed marriage. Its real effect depends on the overall strength of the chart, the degree and sign of Mars, and whether both partners' charts are studied together as a pair. Manglik dosha remedies, when genuinely suggested, are meant to bring balance to the relationship, not to instil fear in anyone.
Can remedies really help?
I have often seen individuals where a delay eased noticeably after they addressed the underlying planetary weakness through sincere, simple remedies — worship, charity, or specific rituals tied to the afflicted planet — combined always with their own patience and effort in daily life. Remedies work alongside your actions, not instead of them; no remedy replaces genuine effort to build and sustain a relationship.
Keeping perspective on delay
A later marriage is not a lesser marriage, and I say this to every client who comes to me worried about feeling "behind" their peers. Some charts are simply built for a marriage that arrives with more maturity, clarity, and readiness attached to it. My responsibility as an astrologer is to help you understand why the delay is happening and what, if anything, can genuinely be done — never to frighten you into believing your own chart has failed you somehow.
If delay is weighing on you right now, I would be glad to look honestly at your chart with you in a confidential consultation, so that you understand the real picture rather than the fear surrounding it.
